fiogf49gjkf0d Dr Jaime Bosch is currently Professor of Medicine and Chief of Hepatology Section at the IMD, Hospital Clinic, University of Barcelona, Spain.
Dr Bosch attended the Medical School of the University of Barcelona where he graduated with Honors on 1970. He then attended the Department of Internal Medicine and the Liver Unit of the Hospital Clinic where he gained his Board Certifications in Internal Medicine and Digestive Diseases, and joined the Faculty of the Liver Unit.
Dr Bosch was a visiting Assistant Professor at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, during 1980 to 1982, working with Dr Roberto Groszmann. He was appointed Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona and Chief of the Hepatic Hemodynamic Laboratory at the Hospital Clinic in 1985.
From 1994 to 1999 Dr Bosch was the manager of the National Plan for Research and Development in Biomedicine at the Interministerial Commission for Science and Technology, Madrid, Spain. From August 1999 to January 2000 he was Visiting Professor of Medicine at Yale University.
Since 2000, Dr Bosch has been the Coordinator of the Department of Liver, Gastroenterology and Metabolism at the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica August Pi i Sunyer, Barcelona, and Research Coordinator of the Institut de Mlalties Digestives, Hospital Clínic, Barcelona. He is also the Coordinator of the National Network of Research in Hepatology and Gastroenterology.
His particular research interests are the pathophysiology and treatment of portal hypertension.
Dr Bosch is a fellow of the ACD, Asociación Española para el Estudio del Hígado, European Association for the Study of the Liver, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and IASL.
Dr Bosch is on the Editorial Board for Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Seminars in Liver Disease, Journal of Hepatology, and Gastroenterología y Hepatología. In addition, he is an Associate Editor for Seminars in Liver Disease and for Hepatology (1995-2000). He has edited 6 books, and is the author of over 200 original papers in peer review journals.
