fiogf49gjkf0d Dr Jay L Goldstein is currently Professor of Medicine and Vice Head for the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr Goldstein attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he completed his MD in 1978. He then completed his training in Internal Medicine followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
In 1983, Dr Goldstein was appointed to the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Section of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, and he has remained there over the past 20 years.
His particular research interests are focused on the UGI tract and specifically in the areas of NSAID-associated injury and the preventative strategies used to reduce such injury. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed studies related to the class of drugs known as COX 2 specific inhibitors.
Dr Goldstein is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and is the elected Governor for the state of Illinois. He is also a member of a number of other professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Physicians, and Gastroenterology Research Group (GRG), amongst others.
Dr Goldstein is on the Editorial Board for Evidence Based Gastroenterology.
Dr. Goldstein is also the director of an annual course entitled "Methodologies in Outcomes Research" that is co-sponsored by the GRG and the AGA. The course has been held for the past 9 years.
