fiogf49gjkf0d Mr Michael Li is currently the Chief of Service in the Department of Surgery, and the Director of the Minimal Access Surgery Training Center at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Hong Kong
He graduated with an MBBS from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School in 1977. This was followed by postgraduate surgical training at Westminster Hospital, under Professor Harold Ellis, where he gained FRCE(ED) and FRCS(Eng) in 1982.
Mr Li worked with Ken Hobbs at the Royal Free Hospital for 2 years, before returning to Hong Kong as Lecturer to Professor Arthur Li at the Prince of Wales Hospital, in 1985. He was appointed Consultant Surgeon at Alice Ho Miu Ling Hospital in 1989, and subsequently to his current position in 1993.
Mr Li's main surgical interests are gastroenterology and surgical oncology. Over the last 13 years, his main forte has been the development of minimal access surgery. He was the founding President of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Hong Kong.
Currently, he is Vice President of the Hong Kong College of Surgeons, immediate Past President of the Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia, Honorary Professor to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Visiting Professor to Sun Yet Sen University of Medical Sciences, Guangzhou.
He is also on the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Surgery, and the Annals of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong.
