fiogf49gjkf0d Professor Lambert now works as a Senior Investigator at the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer, in Lyon, France.
He was Professor of Medicine at the University of Lyon from 1964 to 1999. Clinical commitments have included being Chief of the Gastroenterology Unit (1974-1995) and Coordinator of the Department of Digestive Diseases (1990-1997), at Hospital E. Herriot, Lyon. He was also Chairman of the European Digestive Week (UEGW) in Paris, November 1996 and Chairman of the 12th International Symposium on Endoscopic Ultrasonography in Monte Carlo, February 2000.
Professor Lambert was Director of the INSERM U 45 Research Unit (1964-1983) and Director of the CNRS LP 5440 Epidemiology Unit (1978-1982) at the University of Lyon.
He is on the committees of Endoscopy, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology. He has also been a scientific advisor for the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy since 1998, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, England.
Professor Lambert's special interests are in the pathophysiology of peptic ulcer, digestive cancer epidemiology, therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, thermal and non-thermal effects of laser on tumors, and management of esophageal cancer.
